Eddie Martinez’s 2011 solo exhibition, Seeker, at Peres Projects in Berlin drew rave reviews. This past summer Martinez followed up with two new painting shows and a book of drawings published in September featuring an essay by art legend Glenn O’Brien, who notes the “totemic power” of Martinez’s abstract imagery. Critics have cited influences from Picasso to Hockney to Guston, but you saw it for yourself at Halsey McKay in East Hampton where Eddie participated in a two-person show with Jose Lerma or at half gallery on the LES where his September show was a NY Observer “not to miss.”
