André Saraiva is a Portuguese graffiti artist you may remember from the Paris night scenes in the art documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop. His signature character is a winking smiley face called Mr. A, whose visage was ubiquitous on mailboxes in France during the 1990s. Since then André has become a nightlife legend with his global Le Baron enterprise (Paris, New York, Tokyo, and the occasional pop-up club like Club André during Art Basel Miami). He also marked his foray into the world of cinema in 2011 with his film debut, “The Shoe,” starring fellow Exhibition A artist Leo Fitzpatrick and Annabelle Dexter-Jones. In 2012 André had his first New York solo exhibition, “Love Letters,” at Half Gallery, plus a major show at The Hole in NYC, and another at Anonymous Gallery in Mexico City. André will paint several large public murals in Miami leading up to Art Basel 2012.
